Readers in Training (RIT) is an early intervention initiative by Spread the Word Nevada, targeting children from birth to age 5. The program is designed to foster a love for reading and enhance kindergarten readiness by providing children with developmentally suitable books during the crucial first five years. Participants, including children and their parents or guardians, receive monthly mailings of age-appropriate books, along with tips and activities to encourage reading. Additionally, the program offers quarterly small group training sessions and story times. This initiative not only supports early literacy but also involves parents in the developmental process, making reading a fun and educational activity for the whole family.
