Protection Orders

A protection order, issued by a court, aims to shield individuals, businesses, and the broader community from instances of domestic violence, assault, harassment, stalking, or sexual assault. In situations of intimate partner violence, characterized by power dynamics, immediate action, such as dialing 911, is crucial if one is in imminent danger. This legal document, signed by a judge, mandates the perpetrator to halt all forms of abuse or threats against the victim and/or their children and may include provisions for child support, custody, visitation, and debt payment. Eligibility extends to those who have experienced abuse within the past six months or face present or future threats, with emergency protective orders recommended in situations where returning home poses risks due to previous violence. For assistance and guidance, individuals can call our 24/7 hotline at 888-621-0047, where trained staff offer compassionate support, and information about community resources, and aid victims in their journey toward safety and independence from abuse, providing free confidential services including safety planning, crisis intervention counseling, court accompaniment, and shelter and housing referrals.
